In terms of teaching a foreign language, not only teaching a language itself but also teaching the culture of the language is important.

I would show a lot of movies or soap operas that can show the real life in the target language culture.

For example, when I teach the holiday 'halloween' to the students, I would show them a scene about the holiday rather than just explaining it by telling the definition.
The other way to teach the culture is making students experience the culture by themselves.

For example, in America, when people sneeze, they say 'bless you' but this concept doesn't exist in Korea.
So, when the teacher teach it, make students have role-play with peers and practice like in real situation.

That would be helpful to understand the culture better.
